Economists are increasingly concerned about the possibility of a U.S. recession in 2025, due, in part, to policy decisions under the Trump administration, including tariffs and federal workforce reductions.

Connecticut officials have acknowledged that they may need to tap into the state’s rainy day fund later this year or next to mitigate the big drops in tax receipts that often accompany a sharp national economic downturn.
