Regional law firm Day Pitney, which has a large office in Hartford’s Goodwin Square, has hired a new partner in its government enforcement and white collar criminal defense practice.
Stephen B. Reynolds, who is based in the firm’s Stamford office, most recently was the chief compliance officer for federal programs at The Cigna Group, a health insurer based in Bloomfield.
At Cigna, Reynolds oversaw compliance with federal healthcare requirements, including with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Previously, Reynolds worked for 16 years as an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S.
Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut, as well as the Department of Justice.
“Steve’s impressive tenure as a federal prosecutor and in-house counsel speaks volumes, and his wealth of experience in investigations, trials, cybersecurity and federal healthcare issues aligns perfectly with our firm,” said Manuel A. Garcia-Linares, chair of Day Pitney’s litigation department. “His arrival will add immediate value to our government enforcement, data privacy and healthcare teams, as he can offer invaluable guidance to clients navigating complex government and internal investigations.”
Day Pitney also highlighted Reynolds’ federal prosecutorial and investigative experience, noting that he “understands the cross-section of cybersecurity and health care.”
While working for the federal government, Reynolds was appointed deputy chief for cybersecurity in the National Security Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He also served as the deputy chief of the National Security and Major Crimes Unit for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.
Earlier in his career, Reynolds was a litigation associate in the Day Pitney’s Hartford office.
Day Pitney has more than 300 attorneys in 13 offices, including five in Connecticut. It also has offices in Boston, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C.
