Eli’s in Orange closing this weekend

A popular restaurant chain has announced it is closing one of its Connecticut locations.

Eli’s Restaurant Group posted to social media earlier this week that after 10 years, it’s closing the Orange location on Sunday, April 28.

“Due to a myriad of challenges we and the rest of the restaurant industry had faced over the last few years, it has caused us to evaluate the markets where we can effectively compete with our Eli’s casual dining experience, Elicit Brewing Company and brick oven pizza concept,” owners said in a post.

Other locations will remain open, including the original flagship restaurant Eli’s on Whitney in Hamden, and other locations in Branford, Milford, Manchester and Fairfield. 

Plans are in the works for a new Elicit Brewing location in Danbury.

Owners said they are working to integrate workers at the Orange restaurant into other sites, and that any Orange gift cards can be redeemed at other locations.
